POOL INFORMATION
The tournament is a pool tournament, with each weight and division broken into 4 pools. Wrestlers will be pre-seeded (per the attached criteria) by the tournament committee, based on information provided by the entrant on the applicant information sheet. The top seed will be placed in Pool A, #2 seed in Pool D, #3 in Pool C, and #4 in Pool B. In cases where more than 4 wrestlers are seeded, #5 will go in Pool B, #6 will go in Pool C, #7 in Pool D, and #8 in Pool A. Only eight wrestlers will continue to the final round.
The champion of each pool will be seeded into the Championship Bracket with the other three pool champions. All final round seeding will be based on Pool Round finish. Winner of Pool A will wrestle the Winner of Pool B, and the winner of Pool C will wrestle the winner of Pool D. Winners of these matches will meet for the National Championship title. The losers of this round will wrestle for 3rd Place.
The second place finishers of each pool will be seeded into the Consolation Bracket with the other three second-place finishers. All final round seeding will be based on Pool Round finish. The second-place finisher in Pool A will wrestle the second-place finisher in Pool B, and the second-place finisher in Pool C will wrestle the second-place finisher in Pool D. Winners of these matches will wrestle for 5th Place. The losers of this round will wrestle for 7th Place.

TOURNAMENT POOL INFORMATION
The pool system gives more wrestlers the chance to wrestle in more matches. In our system, each division and weight group will be divided into 4 pools of wrestlers, seeded according to the attached criteria. In a perfect scenario, we would have 4 pools of 4 wrestlers. However, chances of a perfect scenario are not great, so we are planning on variations to meet the needs of the tournament.
If 5 wrestlers, or less, are in a pool, standard 5-Man, 4-Man, 3-Man, and Round-Robin rules will be applied. When there are more than 5 wrestlers in a pool, each wrestler will wrestle a minimum of three opponents in his pool.
Rounds would be as follows:
2-Man Pool (winner of 2 goes to Championship Pool, loser to Consolation)
Round 1: 1 v 2
Round 2: 1 v 2
Round 3: 1 v 2 (if necessary)
3-Man Pool
Round 1: 1 v 2
Round 2: 1 v 3
Round 3: 2 v 3
4-Man Pool
Round 1: 1 v 2, 3 v 4
Round 2: 1 v 3, 2 v 4
Round 3: 1 v 4, 2 v 3
5-Man Pool
Round 1: 1 v 2, 3 v 4
Round 2: 1 v 3, 4 v 5
Round 3: 1 v 4, 2 v 5
Round 4: 1 v 5, 2 v 3
6-Man Pool
Round 1: 1 v 2, 3 v 4, 5 v 6
Round 2: 1 v 3, 2 v 5, 4 v 6
Round 3: 1 v 4, 2 v 6, 3 v 5
7-Man Pool
Round 1: 1 v 2, 3 v 4, 5 v 6
Round 2: 1 v 5, 2 v 7, 3 v 6
Round 3: 1 v 6, 2 v 5, 4 v 7
Round 4: 1 v 4, 3 v 7
8-Man Pool
Round 1: 1 v 2, 3 v 4, 5 v 6, 7 v 8
Round 2: 1 v 3, 2 v 4, 5 v 7, 6 v 8
Round 3: 1 v 4, 2 v 4, 5 v 8, 6 v 7
Pool winners and runners-up will be determined by the following criteria, where applicable:
1) Most wins
2) Head to Head
3) Total Pool Points (points as specified below)
7 pts pin
6 pts tech
5 pts major
4 pts decision
3 pts getting decisioned
2 pts getting majored
1 pt getting teched
0 pts getting pinned
4) Most falls
5) Least total fall time
6) Most match points Because (in pools with an odd number of competitors)
some wrestlers get a 4th match, that final match points will not be
counted. Only the first 3 matches wrestled will be counted for
advancement to the final rounds.
7) Wrestle-off between two wrestlers with identical wins and points, with
no head to head.
We will wrestle on 8 full size mats for all Division V, High School matches. Divisions 1 & 2 will wrestle on mats through the pools rounds, and Divisions 3 & 4 will wrestle on mats through the pool rounds. Divisions I, II, III, and IV will wrestle on mats for the finals, with some full mats as numbers allow.
